About Me
Hi, I'm Casey Blake
I'm a ESSM/EFS Certified Psycho-Sexologist and a HPCSA Registered Counsellor (Registration Number PRC0020125) .
As a mental health professional, I aim to provide a safe non-judgmental professional space.
I have an interest in working with people who want to think about and unpack some of the following themes in their lives:
* Sex and sexuality
* Sexuality, gender, relationship and erotic diversity,
* Parenting.
* Sex Education (filling in the gaps that many of us have as a result on incredibly incomplete and often inaccurate sexuality and relationship education)
* Neurodiversity
My Background
- After completing my Undergrad and Honours Degrees from The University of the Witwatersrand, I completed a BPsych equivalent course through UNISA, which included completing an internship at Ekupholeni Mental Health and Trauma Center in 2012.
- This enabled me to register as a Registered Counsellor with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in 2013.
- After completing my internship at Ekupholeni Mental Health and Trauma Centre, I stayed on part time during 2013 as a Trauma Counsellor. While working at Ekupholeni, I provided counselling for individuals and couples, co-facilitated group counselling as well as creating and implementing a basic literacy programme to assist our primary school clients with their basic literacy. This literacy programme continued to be run by my colleagues for many years.
- I have a Masters Degree in Psychology (Research) from the University of the Witwatersrand. My coursework included the psychology of gender, and the critical psychology of race, racialism and racialisation. My research thesis looked at experiences of school-based sexuality and relationship education.
- I have been reading about and studying human sexuality since 2010. In 2022 I was privileged to attend the European Society for Sexual Medicine’s School for Sexual Medicine, followed by writing and passing their Psycho-Sexologist Certification Exam in 2023.
- I am a member of SASHA, membership number: SASHA 103
I am constantly learning. In addition to trainings I attend to increase my knowledge and build my therapeutic skills, I am part of monthly professional development groups where we read about, discuss and debate:
- Sexology and Sexual Health
- Sexuality and Gender Identity
- Non-Monogamies and other Non-Normative identities
- Neurodiversity
My Rates
My rate is R1000 per 51 minute session when paying via EFT.
PayFast and card payments carry an additional convenience fee.
II prefer to work weekly (one session per week) with my clients, especially in the beginning stages.
Limited slots are available for sessions every 2nd week, if there is a need for less regular sessions.
I am contracted out of medical aid, meaning that clients are responsible for payment after each session.
My fee is above the medical aid rate for a 51 minute session. This means that if clients are re-imbursed by their medical aids, it is usually at their rate.
I require a 24-hour notice period for cancellations, communicated via email.
Clients who cancel within the 24 hours prior to their appointment, are charged at the regular rate.
Clients who do not arrive for their appointments are charged at the regular rate.
Medical Aids do not reimburse for missed appointments or late cancellations.

Some examples:
Speaking at schools on various sexuality and relationship education topics, both for parents and learners.
Providing teachers and school staff with training to upskill how they support learners who talk to them about their relationships, as well as how to improve upon the consent, relationship and sexuality content in the Life Skills/Orientation classes they teach.
Providing companies with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Training.
Let’s chat about your event and what you’re hoping I'd cover in my talk.
Feedback from Casey's Online Course:
Casey creates a relaxed environment to share personal experiences, to learn about evidence based best practice when talking to kids about sexuality, and to critically think through every day dilemmas so you feel more equipped to deal with them when they come up.
Its never too early to start having certain conversations with my children – to be open and honest on topics which I previously might have thought they were not yet ready for. Learning this skill will allow me to be a source of correct information to them, making them feel comfortable and confident enough to approach me with anything.
Casey is very well informed about how to discuss the body, safe touches, consent, sex and reproduction with your children and she is able to share that knowledge with you in a manner that is easily understandable.
